The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) is an international agreement between Governments. Its aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival. The Appendixes to CITES list a series of animal and plant species whose trade is restricted or prohibited.

If your animal belongs to an exotic species, it is advisable to check if the animal is listed in the appendixes of CITES, in which case the animal's travel may be restricted or even banned. When in doubt, please check.
